Variable Star COMPLETE (And Mini Tutorial) from Wedding Dress Blue

This is a great pattern to use up jelly roll leftovers. In fact, a bunch of those (already conveniently sewn into sets) is what inspired this pattern.

The strip sets are 6 strips high and 12-1/2″ wide. The stars are also 12 inches (finished). I used a plan similar to THIS TUTORIAL: https://www.createwithclaudia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/CWC-Mystery-Quilt-Along-2020-November-Block.pdf

I matched the star centers and the binding. I would like to do this again and highlight a focal fabric in the star centers.

This quilt will be donated to the local childrens hospital.

Free Motion Quilting – Dino Eggs from I Patch and Quilt

The youngest member of our family clan is really into animals, especially if they make a lot of noise. The lions and bears have been recently joined by dinosaurs. Whhraaahhh!

The last three designs I shared were either dense background designs or grid patterns. It is time for an edge to edge, don’t you think? Meet the design Dino Eggs. (Dinosaurs’ eggs wouldn’t have made a lot of noise, so I think we are safe to use them on our quilts! </p>

Baby Henry’s Quilt: Complete from Wedding Dress Blue

Baby Henry should receive his quilt today.

While I usually work with small pieces, the simple, bold look of this quilt pleases me. And it allows larger prints to shine. And I love the unexpected-but-perfect binding.

The print squares started at 6″. The HST as squares of 6-1/2″. The quilt finishes at +-39″.

ps–I am not sure why these pictures are poor, but the quilt is in the mail, and I cannot retake them. I hope you can get the idea anyway. These things sometimes happen.

New York Beauty Quilt is Finished! from Grandma's Red Needle

When the weather calls for 'no venture out', what do you do?!
SEW! EAT! Drink COFFEE! SLEEP! REPEAT!
Well, this apply to all rainy days, not only last week when 'Garance' passed close by.

My February goal was to finish the NYB quilt, and I did!

It has 48 blocks + 4 corner blocks.
It measures 74 x 58 inches / 188 x 147 cm
All batik from my stash, except the backing (batik too) I had to purchase.

Once again thank you to those of you who suggested thread color and design!  (here). Much appreciated!

You may remember I'm on ...

Free Motion Quilting – Knitwear from I Patch and Quilt

You know how much I like using slightly different thread colors in my quilts, but for this FMQ design I absolutely recommend using a thread that blends with the fabric as much as possible. It is all about the texture!

The design Knitwear doesn’t really mimic any type of knitwear of knitting specifically, but it borrows the rhythmic sequence of arches. If you wanted the quilting to resemble knitting, the arches / ogee shapes would need to line up, instead of jumping up and down.

This design will look great on quilts with themes like winter, autumn, ‘sweater weather’, snow ...

Just Plain Cute Baby Quilt from Wedding Dress Blue

It doesn’t take much: 16 4-1/2″ squares of the feature fabric, and 2-1/2″ strips for the outer border. The squares are surrounded by 2 2-1/2x 4-1/4″ strips and 2 2-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ strips. Finishes at 36″ square.

And just plain cute!

This one goes to the new baby of a neighbor. She is the younger sister of the Georgia Quick Quilt baby.

Yay for babies! Hope and promise of the future wrapped in love today.

Giant Dresden Bee Quilt from Sewing Under the Little Mushroom Cap

I’ve been having so much fun working on a giant Dresden bee quilt using a bee collection called Honey & Lavender by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics. I first tried out the Dresden Plate Template for 10″ Squares from Missouri Star Quilt Company when I made my quilt project organizer bag which I talked about before HERE>, and I completely fell in love with it. I knew right then that I had to make a full-sized quilt using these oversized Dresdens.

Free Motion Quilting – Soap Bubbles from I Patch and Quilt

I love me some dense pebbles, but they can become a bit repetitive. Often I use small pebbles to fill in between other bigger shapes, but pebble variations can be stunning by themselves.

This weeks’s design is a background filler design made out of circles in various sizes. The largest circle is about as big as the circle you can make with your fingers, when your index finger touches your thumb. Smaller circles are used to fill in the spaces in between.

This freemotion pattern will look great on quilts with themes like soap, soap bubbles, washing, cleaning, bathtub ...

Ugandan Holiday–Part 1: Tablerunner from Wedding Dress Blue

This is the first of three projects created with fabric from Uganda: Tablerunner.

The approximate dimensions are 13″x60″.

The owner chose the purple binding, which is perfect, and the black backing. It has been a while since I did hand quilting, so it is a little rough, but the colors hide a lot. The tree skirt is next.

Charming Baby Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Today I have another baby quilt finish to share. I missed adding this one to my list of quilts I hoped to make this year so I'll just count it as a bonus quiltThis is one of the first fabric lines I bought when I began quilting and  I've made numerous quilts with it. It was a Moda collection called Lily & Will from Bunny Hill Designs. Circa 2010-ish I think and after all these

Quilt Piecing from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been piecing more charity quilts. This one is great if you have a stack of 2.5" strips.
I pulled colors from the cute owl print to make the blocks and borders.
I pulled most of these squares from the stack to coordinate with the border print. I didn't have much yellow, though.
Another scrappy quilt made using small 2.5" by 4.5" bricks and pairing with a selection of random 6.5" squares. Framed with a couple borders for a neat finish.

These will be bundled up and dropped off with Annapolis Quilts for Kids ...

Brown Bag Mystery Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

I don't know what it is about these mystery quilts that I love so much. That doesn't matter. I popped over to The Crabby Quilter, one of my local quilt shops, and picked up a kit and the Creative Grids Square on Square Trim Tool (3in or 6in).
I admit I chose it because of those cute, little kitties! I'm excited to get started on this project. Every year this is an adventure that takes me outside my comfort zone. I'm here for it!

Check out my previous BBMQ's.

Winter Village so far.... from Joy of Quilting

Thought I'd give a progress report on the Winter Village Quilt I'm currently working on.

It's Called Winter Village by Edyta Sitar

The Pattern can be found at Laundry Basket Quilts but it is also in Edyta's Book A Season In Blue

I started working on this Quilt in April 2024

I made a good start following Edyta's YouTube instructions. But then like the Blackbird Crafter I am got sidetracked by lots of Shiny Little Projects...

In between these Beautiful distractions I stitched a few Houses here and there over the months.

There were 23 ...
